On Line Life in Kuwait

Now this is my 9 month in Kuwait after spending few years abroad. Up until now I’ve managed to use few kuwaiti online stores that made my life much easier.

www.Fendeq.com which I reviewed earlier in the blog is one of the sites i’ve used recently. I was planning to head to KSA for the weekend and decided to book the ticket via expedia as usual. I couldn’t find a hotel booking at that time at Radison SAS, thankfully fendeq.com was on my mind and the room was available with no problem at all.

www.taw9eel.com is the other site I used last Friday. The good thing that it delivered the goods in 30 min without the need to call me and confirm the address. The bad thing is I couldn’t find Dr Pepper on their site!

www.6alabat.com This is the 3rd or 4th time i use the site. It takes ages to deliver the meal and most of the restaurants listed are “Trendy” restaurants for sushi and stuff. I managed to order Chelow Kabab for dinner from Shater Abbas.

www.clicknbuy.com.kw I only use this site to compare prices. I didn’t buy anything from their yet.

The site is under construction!

What other Kuwaiti online stores you used recently and how was the services ?

Trying to understand why Kuwait SUCK!

September 29, 2008 at 11:50 pm (kuwait) (, , , )

Kuwait City

Everyone in Kuwait complain about something, being Kuwaiti or not there is always something we complain about. It’s natural to do so, but with all of these complains one should try to understand why Kuwait suck.

Why the Internet coast cost an arm and a leg? Why Zain and Wataniya are ripping us while they almost make out with each customer who lives outside Kuwait.

It’s because of you peeps. We are basically not that many, they need customers to buy their products and spread the coast cost of their services between us. But if you have 800,000 potential customers between 5 companies or so to provide the Internet or 2 million customers between 2-3 cell phone companies, you simply don’t have enough people to share the cost.

So, the solution I see is to activate the GCC thingy and act as a one country with a huge potential customer base where any company within the GCC can offer their services within any part they want openly, while trying to preserve  the right of the small companies that grow locally.

Nokia E71, Why?

July 18, 2008 at 6:13 am (Interest, kuwait) (, , , )

e71

e71

I’ve been using my N82 since the beginning of the year and I had to format it for 2 times since then. This is quite normal with Nokia phones for me as they suck major monkey balls. What I have learned that there is no point in having a chunky phone with gazillion options for a nice price that at the end of the 6 months you will find half of them not working well at all.

So whats that buzz about the E71 around the blogosphere? It’s another damn Nokia! Ok the size factor is quite nice, GPS is BS in Kuwait, Wi-Fi isn’t practical (I prefer having Wnet connection on my phone rather than wi-fi access), and I practically push myself to use the camera from time to time just because I have 5MP cam with Xenon flash , after all where do you want to use it in Kuwait as most of our my entertainment is either in the Cinema’s , Restaurants , and Diwanya’s.

Now I guess the true power of the E71 lies with it’s keyboard, which you only get to use if you have a proper Internet connection. I am planning to get Wnet on my phone in upcoming few months and give it a shot with the N82 and see it it realy does change the way I look at the phone or not.

Anyone finds a better reason for all the buzz around the E71?

Twiiter and the down time

May 16, 2008 at 8:00 am (Uncategorized) (, , , )

Since I’ve been using twitter I’ve been up to date with Kuwait news thanks to nibaq! The desert storms (a.k.a desertfubuki) , death of H.H Sheikh Saad (Allah yer7ma) , and many more stuff about Kuwait.

What is missing is more people to join twitter but no body seems intrested in micro blogging. Frankly speaking, it isn’t a good time to urge people to join in with all the downtime twitter and pownce are facing recently.

P.S. Try http://twistori.com/

I joined Facebook few days earlier because of the killing boredom during my study breaks. I started editing my profile and guess what showed up for hometown:

Kuwait, Iraq!

Could this be a good reason to block facebook in Kuwait!. I hope it is :)

iomega HDD

Since the day I’ve discovered the wonders of Torrents I started downloading TV series and unsubscribed my ntl for good. This lead to a huge shortage of space on my 160GB HD iMac. Currently I’ve only got 6GB of free space and thats a bit scary. I bought my self iomega 500GB “Desktop Hard Drive” and started transfering stuff to it. Guess How long it takes.

Let’s hope its done before my flight back to Kuwait tomorrow 4am!
P.S.: This is just the Movies folder. There is another 5GB worth of music.
