N82

February 24, 2008 at 1:54 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , )

I’ve managed to get an N82 phone instead of my old K8ooi SE last xmas. I’ve been mainly using it as a music player as I’ve lost my old iPod. The thing that I miss from my old iPod is when you accidentally unplug the headphones, the song pause automatically. Now, when you do the same thing with the N82, the song plays from the internal speakers and that is quite annoying if you were in a lecture or at work.

I’ve googled for a solution but I couldn’t find any. I guess I have to be careful and stop the song manually before I unplug the headphones.

Bloggin’ mood

November 13, 2007 at 8:02 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , )

Anyone notice that whenever you are too busy to blog you find it the best time to do so?

I remember last year during my final exams I started bloggin here. Now,although the exams are far away, I don’t have anything to blog about. I guess school life is a bit boring and nothing exciting happens nowadays.

Anyways, the idea of having an iPod touch is hunting me back again. I pretty much crossed over the iPhone idea as it is pretty much useless and I am quite happy with my K800i.

I guess I’ll buy an iPod Touch for the sake of having a blogging material at least ;)

P.S.: Anyone uses ZYB.Com ?

Why I’de Like to Get an iPhone

October 13, 2007 at 11:16 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , )

I’ve bean craving for a new phone since summer and I had the Tyten II in mind as THE phone to get.

But HTC phones aren’t that good. They lag and are windows based (a.k.a endless crashes and restarts). So as far as I know, the iPhone:

1- Runs quite smoothly

2- Has a lot of hype around it = a lot of programs coming out

3- It looks nice

4- Lost my iPod

What draws me back though

1- Lack of GPS

2- Difficulties with sms/mms.

3- Not supporting windows pocketpc apps.

4- 2MB flash less camera.

The GPS isn’t really a big deal in Kuwait as most of modern cars has it and you almost know where to go most of the time, and once you do, you don’t need the GPS anymore.

Not being able to write sms in the traditional alphanumeric way (3arabi) along with the lack of switching off the auto-complete feature is a draw back. Not to mention the absence of forwarding sms ability and mms!

Backup: Discovering The Full Potential of Automator and iPod

June 4, 2007 at 10:55 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

So I am heading back to Mishref this summer, and I needed to backup all the stuff I have on my iMac to my iPod. iPhoto and iCal are already synced so as the address book and music of course. Few folders remained not synced so I enabled the desk usage on the iPod and dragged and dropped the folders. Then I remembered a nifty tool called Automator. After spending 20 min’s I made up a workflow that whenever I plug my iPod it will:

1- Rename the files on the desktop by adding todays date after each of them

2- “clean up” the desktop by moving these file to a backup folder on my iMac

3- Copy all the new files to my iPod

This will make me miss my iMac for the whole summer. Luckily I got my macbook to play with meanwhile.

Pimp My iPod!

April 21, 2007 at 2:47 pm (Uncategorized) (, , )

green ipod, originally uploaded by shesma.

New headphones to match the hulky green iSkin I use for my 30GB white iPod!.
These new headphones has a little magnet to hold them together. They also come with an extension wire and a small plastic box to save them while not in use.
The only con I found was due to my own anatomy. My ears are extra small and the freaken thing keeps falling out of my external auditory meatus :P .

A Diabetic Asks: Why Don’t Pumps Look Like iPods?

April 11, 2007 at 1:59 pm (Uncategorized) (, )

//flickr.com/photos/xusha///flickr.com/photos/art_sweet/166600001/

As soon as I’ve read this title, one thing came into my mind. How many iPod users are there and How many pump dependent diabetic patients ?.

Apple recently annouced they’ve reached a 100 million ipod production milstone.

In 2007, it is estimated that there are 246 million people with diabetes in the adult population in the seven regions of International Diabetes Foundation (IDF). In 2003, the total was 194 million.

I am guessing about 20% of thesee 250 million might need/use an insulin pump. That’s about 50 million users. Economically speaking, the consumer population size is much larger for iPods than inslin Pumps, hence, spending money on designing ipods and their accessories is mcuh more rewardin.

I hate it when money and medicine come into a collision.
