Nokia E71, Why?

I’ve been using my N82 since the beginning of the year and I had to format it for 2 times since then. This is quite normal with Nokia phones for me as they suck major monkey balls. What I have learned that there is no point in having a chunky phone with gazillion options for a nice price that at the end of the 6 months you will find half of them not working well at all.

So whats that buzz about the E71 around the blogosphere? It’s another damn Nokia! Ok the size factor is quite nice, GPS is BS in Kuwait, Wi-Fi isn’t practical (I prefer having Wnet connection on my phone rather than wi-fi access), and I practically push myself to use the camera from time to time just because I have 5MP cam with Xenon flash , after all where do you want to use it in Kuwait as most of our my entertainment is either in the Cinema’s , Restaurants , and Diwanya’s.

Now I guess the true power of the E71 lies with it’s keyboard, which you only get to use if you have a proper Internet connection. I am planning to get Wnet on my phone in upcoming few months and give it a shot with the N82 and see it it realy does change the way I look at the phone or not.

Anyone finds a better reason for all the buzz around the E71?

    Hi,

I’m planning on getting an E71 as soon as they’re available in Canada and have been using an E61i for the past year. I have to say that I’ve had zero issues with reliability and in my experience look upon S60 as the best mobile OS on the market.

I don’t think it’s necessary to have a “proper internet connection” to make use of the E71’s QWERTY keypad — I find it excellent for texting and office productivity.

I think people are excited about the E71 because it’s a worthwhile upgrade to the highly regarded E61i. Eseries products are generally even more stable than Nseries, so that might be another reason for you to consider one!

Maybe because I am not involved in the “office productivity” field I didn’t understand the fuzz about it. I have to see how stable it is to understand more.

Like the poster above, I switched from a E61i to the E71 .. the phone has tons of great features (battery life, keyboard, fast processor, wide screen I couldn’t use the N82 for more than a day .. the buttons were too small for writing messages. In addition to using the wifi for syncing my emails (and other stuff), it can also serve as an access point (it shares the HSDPA connection).

I’ve got wnet as a wifi router at home, so far it’s good. Although, I need to restart the router every week or something.

Why are you considering the e71 ?

I utterly hate it. A friend of mine got one just because it has so many positive reviews (locally to be exact) and he ended up selling it two weeks later.
